Magnolia Box from Short Par 4

image3.jpegThese days, society is all about convivence. Our schedules seem to be busier each month and it can even be challenging to make time for ourselves. This is why I believe the Subscription Box industry is so successful. Before this experience, I had no idea there were boxes including golf apparel. I actually couldn’t name one person I knew who has a box subscription, or maybe they just don’t get paid to post about it on social media, like most celebrities do.

I am not a paid celebrity by any means and ShortPar4 still wanted to send me a box. I am however a golf-loving, clothes enthusiast who loves to write about all things golf in hopes of growing the game.

Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I hate surprises. I love to be in control of everything, so not being able to actually pick my outfit had me very anxious. What if they don’t know my style? Will I be able to return it, or will I be forced to wear something I’d never buy myself?

Because this was a complimentary box, I did not go through the ordering process, but I wanted to go online to see what it would be like. I will say, after reading my fellow GolfStarz Guy’s blog, I do wish the women’s ordering process was more like the men’s.

The women’s ordering process was very basic. They only asked for sizes and some info about your golf game. They didn’t ask for my style preferences or what items I may be in need of. What if I just purchased a new pair of golf shoes but need sneakers or what if I prefer pants/shorts instead of dresses/skorts? I wasn’t even asked favorite colors.

Initial Impressions

The box was beautiful and came very quickly. I’m sure I’m not the only one whose day is image1 (1).jpegmade better when a package is at my doorstep. Upon opening it, I only found three items. I was after researching a little more online I was not able to locate how many items to expect each month.  Similar to the men’s line it would be nice to know what to expect month to month when it comes to the number of items to expect.

Maybe it’s because I’m new to subscription boxes, but in the celebrity videos I’m used to seeing online, their boxes seem to be full of many different items.  Since ShortPar4 says they deliver every month, I’m curious to know what helps them decide WHAT to send and WHEN.

It’d be really neat if each subscriber had an online “closet” in their profile where they could see what items they’ve already received so that in the future they won’t be sent something similar.

Box Contents

image2.jpegI will say the outfit they sent was great. It was classic, stylish and something everyone should like. I hardly buy navy, but it never goes out of style. The pleated skort was something I have my eye on for a while now. It matched perfectly and made me look very stylish, leading to confidence on the course. I will say that the skinny multi-colored headbands in my box kind of threw me off. I would have picked a cute white visor or ribbon to go with this outfit instead. This is where asking more detailed questions about my personal style preferences would have been helpful.

Lexi Thompson has partnered with ShortPar4 for the first Magnolia Women’s Box, so I believe all items are Puma brand. I’d love to see another stylish golfer and their brand get involved like Danielle Kang and Adidas or Michelle Wie and Nike since Men’s box offers other brands.

This box indeed changed my mind about subscription boxes. Since I travel for work, I image4.jpegcould totally see the benefit of having a full outfit styled for you and sent right to your door. It’s a great initiative for those beginner golfers who want to look the part and feel good about starting a new sport. It’s also perfect for those who play often and just want to be surprised with the latest styles.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what ShortPar4 has planned for the future and I hope you sign up for your first box soon!
