GOLF STARZ REVIEW: SOUTHERN SEAM

Well, it has been a minute or two since our last review.  I am extremely excited to share this company with y’all.

Recently, we connected with the guys over at Southern Seam and boy are we glad.  Southern Seam has found a way to infuse great clothing with helping those in need.  If you ask me that is a winning combo.  Talk about a purpose-driven company.

Behind the company:

Before we get to the shirts – let’s take a look at who Southern Seam is and what they

stand for.  Southern Seam hit the market only a couple weeks ago.  While they are new to the market, the company has been in the making for a couple of years.  Started by two friends who met due to their day jobs, they have always felt like they had something more to give. Boyce & Kevin are driven by the saying “The way life should feel” decided to make a high-quality shirt to accomplish one side of the mission.  Now all they had to do next is find a way to give back.

Think about waking up and some of life’s most basic necessities are gone.  Think about not having clean water, food to eat, or even a bed to sleep in. What if I told you-you can help fund organizations by just buying a shirt.  With every shirt you buy, you can chose to help fund wells with clean drinking water (bloodwater.org), feed a hungry family (secondharvestetn.org) or help an individual experience what it’s like to sleep in a bed for the first time (sweetsleep.org).  Currently, 7.5% from each sale goes to your choice of those three charities.  We don’t want to get ahead of Southern Seam, 7.5% is just the start. They hope to up the percentage to make a deeper impact.  It really is that simple. You can join Southern Seam on the mission of ensuring people throughout the world can secure life basic needs.

It is their passion.  Just listening to them talk about making a difference is nothing short of inspiring.  If you have any question about what Southern Seam stands for, look no further than their logo.  The Caterpillar logo.  “Much like the caterpillar that changes into a bright, colorful, life-giving butterfly, we also want to bring change to those where life doesn’t seem so grand.” is how the guys describe the meaning behind their logo – and their brand.

The Shirt:

As soon as you take the shirt out of the package you can feel the quality right away.  Made with a performance material – with moisture-wicking technology these bad boys look great on and off the course.  They are extremely lightweight and breathable, which makes me super excited for the summer months.  Often an overlooked feature on a shirt – the Southern Seam shirts are constructed with double stitched, which means they will hold up to the wear and tear of playing golf or for me when my two daughters pull on my shirt.  Currently, at the time of posting this article, the shirts are selling for $55.99.

Currently, Southern Seam offers two polos in solid colors and four in a larger stripe, IMG_4549.jpgallowing you to find a polo no matter your style.  One of my favorites is the Meadow Green.  The light mint green colorway screams spring and summer and with the grey caterpillar allows you to pair this shirt with either blue or if you really what to tie an outfit together match it with some grey pants…see what I did there.  Also, the Smoke Blue is starting to become another one of our favorites.  Pictures do not do it justice, it’s darker than a navy but lighter than a dark blue.  For me, this is a great shirt to transition from the boardroom to the course.  Formal if you want to dress it up but also casual with some khaki shorts or jeans.  Little insider info…the boys let us in on the next couple shirts that are coming out and we are impatiently waiting.  Sign us up.

In full disclosure, Southern Seam sent us the shirts.  Make sure you check out both our IG and Twitter in the coming weeks, the weather is finally turning here in Columbus so we will be featuring their polos more and more.

Editors note, in the next colors coming out the logo will be a little smaller. I have to admit the logo did take a little getting used to but the more I wore it the more I liked it.  Honestly, it reminds me of some of the polos from some of the courses I have played but also it starts a conversation.  For me it allowed me to share the good word that is Southern Seam and what they stand for.  Also, the shirts run similar in size to Peter Millar or maybe a classic Vineyard Vines.  Make sure you check the sizing as you may want to size down – while they run a little large, they do fit well.  Loose but not baggie.

Conclusion:

IMG_4548.jpgAll and all I was very impressed with Southern Seam, the shirts were awesome.  Fit great and are built with style and quality in mind.  That alone is enough to hang your hat on and be successful.  But Southern Seam decided to give back and allow US – every single one of us who buys a shirt – to give back.  It’s a win…win.  Look good while doing good.

We will continue to update this blog with more pictures as we style the shirts more, so make sure you check back here and our social channels.  Make sure you give Southern Seam a follow on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
