quail hollow

The “Spring time tradition” is back as the TOUR heads to Charlotte for the Wells Fargo Championship. Expectations are always high for this event especially as it returns to the storied Quail Hollow Country Club (host of last years PGA Championship). We’ve seen some of golf’s young talent win for the first time here and we’ve also seen some of the seasoned vets make a charge up the FedEx Cup standings this week. There is no doubt that this can be a pivotal point in the season for some players as everyone’s golf game should be in top-notch condition. We can only hope that it will be a tight leader board on Sunday as players get to the Green Mile (16,17 and 18).

The field this year is stacked with guys like Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods headlining. But this week some people are excited to see Rickie who is making his first start since the Master’s where his finished second. Over the years, Quail Hollow has rewarded the long ball but at the risk of a bunker or hazard. And with Rickie’s length and accuracy this course seem to naturally fit his eye.

But as always, we’re excited for another Tiger Woods start too. According to Golfweek “Woods had been playing irons identical to the Nike blades he used for years, though instead of having the Nike or TaylorMade logo those irons featured a TGR logo stamped on the back of each head. Woods’ new irons have the TaylorMade logo on them.”

Yes, it’s a small change but do you think it will effect Tiger this week in any way? Let us know in the comments below.

So, with that… you know the drill – check out our picks below for the Wells Fargo Championship. As a reminder, we take a dark horse and a favorite every week.  Comment below with your pick and follow us on Twitter for some more hot takes this weekend.
