KNOCK IT STIFF – BARREL- AGED MANHATTAN

Hands down, a Manhattan is one of my favorite drinks.  Classy…simple…but actually very complex once you start leaning more.  Just by changing the base whiskey, adding a different vermouth, or trying out some new bitters will change the flavor profile so much.  The quest to master the Manhattan is like the journey to master your golf swing, a life long journey.  – FYI you can get your own barrel on Amazon, we bought ours at Target.

Barrel-Aged Manhattan:

So basically take your Manhattan recipe and multiply it to fit your barrel.

My go to Manhattan recipe is:

2 1/2 oz of bourbon…

3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth…

2 dashes of Angostura Bitters.

So for a 2 litter barrel

2200 ml of bourbon…

600ml of Sweet Vermouth…

60 ish dashes of Angostura Bitters.

Age as long as you would like, enjoy.  (Sweet spot is around a week or two)

Serve up or over ice with a cherry.
