Sorry for the week break but we took the weekend off to celebrate Christmas with our families.

Making a good cocktail doesn’t always mean you need to own all the high-end ingredients.  While a good drink at a bar is never a bad thing, at home I don’t have a fully stocked bar…one thing I can always promise is I will have good bourbon/whiskey on hand.  We decided to make the “poor man’s” old fashioned this week.  I wanted to feature an old fashioned that is quick to make and tastes amazing.  Now that the temps are dipping below 0 degree here in Columbus there is something fitting about an old fashioned by a fire or space heater.  Only ingredient you may need to buy is bitters for this drink.

TX2

Step one, add a pinch or two of sugar…

Step two, add a couple dashes of Angostura bitters…

**Please note, you can add a cherry here but because of my bourbon choice I decided not to.

Step three, add an oz or two of water…

Step four, add a couple oz of whiskey.  I decided to break out the TX Whiskey.  The vanilla taste adds a sweet flavor profile to the drink.

Step five, add ice and stir…

Finish with an orange garnish…

Enjoy.

Here at Golf Starz we are all about easy drinks to make.   Tip your bartenders/cart girls and never drink and drive.
