Golf Starz take on the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship Presented by CTBC
Week one of Golf Starz following the LPGA is in the books. Last week’s tournament was a good one to watch. It was great to be able to switch back and forth from the PGA to the LPGA, watching some #golfafterdark. While we have seen Jin Young Ko win on the KLPGA, last week we saw Ko overcome a couple rocky stretches of holes to get her first win on the LPGA. No surprise to us but hometown South Korean golfers were win, place, and show. A great showing all around and a fun way to start following the LPGA.
This week the LPGA makes it second stop on the Asian swing for the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship Presented by CTBC. As the season, long Race to the CME Globe is winding down, each tournament means more and more. The field will take on the Miramar Golf Country Club, the home of this event since 2014. A Nicklaus designed course. From the looks of it the course is set up to reward golfers who are able to place/control their shot off the tee. If the tee shot is accurate than most of the holes will open up for a birdie opportunity. Like many Nicklaus designed courses, if you miss on your tee shot, making a par will be challenging. This course is really going to reward the golfers in the field who think a shot ahead and really position themselves for a good approach shot. The finishing hole is set up to be a challenge. A par 5, 521 yard hole with water to the left makes for a great finishing hole that will be fun to watch. With this being the wet season, weather will play a factor.
Check out a hole by hole analysis here.
The field again is full of the world’s top golfers, golfers on the rise, and past winners. 17 out of the top 25 in the world rankings will be in the field and World Number 2 Sung Hyun Park, looks to follow up on her runner up finish last week to continue to close the gap with World Number 1 So Yeon Ryu. Both Park and Ryu are looking to gain points in the CME standings as well. You heard it here first, I have a feeling we are going to see a shake up in the top ten the next couple weeks. I expect the field to go low this week, as we have seen some low scores in past years’ tournaments. Mathematically speaking only those in the top 12 going into Naples have a chance to win the 1 million dollars, expect this to go down the last week leading up to Naples.

Last week we were way off, we are learning so cut us some slack. Out top performer was a T23. We hope to redeem ourselves this week, now that we have a tournament under our belt we hope make it up.
