Golf Starz Take on the Champions Tour – SAS Championship

-L. Daniels

We are striving to cover as much golf as possible here at Golf Starz.  We want to give you, the reader, out insight on each event as well as let you know who we will be watching this weekend.  The Champions Tour has a special place in our hearts… I think Pat Perez sums up how we feel about the Champions Tour pretty well below.  But, we grew up watching these golfers, Freddie Couples, Bernard Langer, Kenny Perry, Vijay Singh, we could go on and on.  You can call it nostalgia, but we plan on bringing you a more rounded coverage, trying to cover as many tournaments as we can.

As we are starting the PGA season we are wrapping up the Champions Tour.  Bernhard Langer seems to have everyone’s number when it comes to the Charles Schwab Cup.  Are we going to see Langer go back-to-back-to-back-to-back?  Or will we see a new champion?

This week the Champions Tour heads to Cary, NC for the SAS Championship.  The SAS Championship will return to the hybrid course for this weekend’s tournament – using holes from both the Highlands and the Meadows courses at Prestonwood Country Club.  Having two courses to pull holes from, means that no holes will disappoint.  With a signature island green and each hole having different features that are going to challenge the field, we are instore for some good golf.  Check out the course here.

We all know the field, we all grew up watching the golfers.  One interesting thing that the SAS Championship offers that is unique is the wild card weekend.  Wildcard Weekend at the SAS Championship allows for one player who finishes in the top 10, but is outside the top 72 on the money list, to advance to the Playoffs.  Pretty cool opportunity for those golfers who are outside of the cut line to make the playoffs but have a good weekend.

This week we are going to take who we think has the best chance of winning.

Comment below who you think:

  • Scott McCarron
