Look, it is so simple. If you are like me, you love to golf. While I love to golf, I lose a lot of balls.
So why pay a lot for your golf balls? Cue our friend Patrick over at Sphera. Sphera is a new company, so I am not surprised if this is the first time you have heard about them. Trust me, and thank us later…Sphera is here to stay and is going to make some waves. Give them a follow on Instagram.
Patrick, a lot like us, had a dream and a really good idea then decided to put his plan into action. Patrick’s dream was “how can I make a cheaper, high quality, high performing golf ball but cut the price for the consumer”? Patrick has succeeded. Patrick sent us the Sphera Pro Threes and Pro Fours to try out.
First – the packaging. The Pro Threes come is a unique looking blue outer box and the Pro Fours come in a light green outer box. The outer box stood out to me right away – smooth and different looking. Much like many millennials – a cool looking box means you have my intention. The ball is a clean looking ball that stands toe to toe with every golf ball on the market. With a smooth logo and a classic style number, these balls fit great into my style.
Second – the performance. Throughout my golf life, I have tried a number of golf balls either because I purchased them or because I found them on the course. You can tell right away if the golf ball is a quality golf ball or if you got ripped off because of a cool looking box or a cheap price. I will be the first to tell you that Sphera golf balls are ones that you will not regret buying and playing.
The Pro Threes and Pro Fours are both made with a urethane cover and the name speaks tells you what you need to know. Urethane covers give you feel around the green and added spin. The Pro Threes is a three-piece ball and the Pro Fours is a four piece ball. The Pro Threes are designed for golfers with a swing speed below 95 MPH and the Pro Fours are designed for golfers that swing over 95 MPH. I played both, my swing is plus 95 MPH on a good day, and honestly didn’t not see a major difference
With any new company, I like to give a sleeve or two out to people I play with. High handicaps and low. Golfers with a lot of club speed and even some older guys at the club that have lost some speed on their swing. It is important to get a rounded review/opinion of golfers across the spectrum. Every person I gave them to was impressed and asked where they could buy them. Not only did I love the golf balls myself and was happy to pass along the website but when you can add in the fact that the balls are under 30 dollars, people don’t just thank me for the website but for saving them money. A steal for this quality.
Let’s cut right to it, I lost no distance off the tee and felt like I had control over the ball around the green. The more distance you get off a golf ball, most of the time you lose some touch around the green. A hard golf ball will fly off the tee, but you will lose some spin and touch around the green. Sphera gives you the best of both worlds. Distance and touch. “The goal at Sphera Golf is to make the game of golf more affordable without compromising any of the quality that many golfers are accustomed to.” – Trust us we have reviewed a number of the new golf balls on the market and Sphera stands right with every single one of them. At this price and quality, no reason not to give them a try. For all of our followers who are data people see the below data from G and E Magzaine’s interview with Sphera below. Data and first-hand experience – what more can you ask for?
Mr. Lafferty Daniels is a weekend warrior when it comes to golf. Mr. Daniels shoots in the high 80s most of the time. Has been know to have a couple snowmen on the score card but with the right amount of luck and sometimes with a little help from the trusty foot wedge can find his way into a birdie.
Sphera sent us the Pro Threes and Pro Fours free of charge to try and write an honest review. All of the reviews we share on Golf Starz are our own honest opinions.
