Today’s review comes from our friend Mr. Lafferty Daniels on a BRAND NEW company that is still in beta. Below is his review – enjoy!

“One of the best things about Golf Starz is being able to find out about companies that you do not see in big box stores.  Social media is an amazing tool for companies to showcase their products without having to break the bank.  Not only does social media bring the product to the consumer, but I am loving the companies that are adapting the direct to consumer model.  To me, a direct to consumer option makes sense for golf balls.  There are a number of different companies that are adopting this model and all of us at Golf Starz are huge fans.

Seed sent us a dozen of their SD-05 prototypes to try out and review.  Seed is a company out of Ireland. First off, let’s talk about how great is it to be able to try a golf ball before it hits the market.  Not often do us weekend warriors get the ability to do that.

Now to the performance of the ball.  When you look at Seed’s website you have to love their honesty… “Look, we’re all going to lose a few balls out there, but it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice performance or use a second-hand ball to save money.”  I could not agree more with this statement.  This summer is the first summer where I have seriously committed to golf and have made it a priority to hit the course.  I think many golfers are like me and with membership costs/green fees, gear, and balls…it’s hard to pay for everything and still be able to cough up $40 dollars a dozen for the newest, best preforming ball on the market.

The Seed SD-05 preforms right along with the high-end balls you will find at the major box retailers across America.  The ball played well throughout the couple rounds we played.  I lost no distance off the tee, had good control around the greens and I was able to putt well with it.  The SD-05 is a three-piece compression ball that is designed for golfers that average swing speeds.  Seed mentions on their website the soft feel of the ball gives you great spin and the control you need from 100 yards in.  I really struggle in this aspect of my game, but I can tell you the ball did not disappoint.  The ball played true to my iron distance and I was able to lay it down soft on the green.

While I hated to lose a couple during the round (the ball was not the issue, my slice was the issue) – the affordable price made it less of a blow.  I can promise you that if you make the switch and try out Seed, your game will not change – and hell, it may even improve.

I don’t know about you but, I like playing golf and I like having more money in my wallet.  Check out Seed golf and give them a try.

You can buy Seed golf balls here.
