Welcome! We’re so pumped to be able to bring our supporters our very first post ever. We intend to make this blog all about the latest and greatest, the up-and-coming trends, equipment, players, and events surrounding the world of golf.
So our first featured post comes from our friend, Mr. Lafferty Daniels, about a company out of Florida who is making big moves in the golf ball game – an industry that appears to be under penetrated by new companies and mostly dominated by the few big names. Below is his review – enjoy!
“There are times that I feel like golf can be very much about keeping up with the Joneses. You always need the new Taylor Made driver, Nike shirt, or Titlist balls – don’t get me wrong we love all of those companies and typically I play with Titlist balls – I even reviewed the Alob balls with a Taylor Made driver (a couple years old non-the-less). However, it is always nice to see an exciting new product hit the market. Alob was nice enough to send us their new Speedway balls in March to try, and boy are we glad they did. I can descirbe the design of the ball and what makes this ball different than every other company out there, but lets be honest… unless your name is Jordan, Bubba, or Rory it might as well be Chinese. So, lets get right into what matters to all of us novice golfers – how the ball actually plays for guys who are not paid to play.
To start, the price point is amazing – under $20 for a dozen balls is a great price. I know that is enough for me to give them a try so please feel free to take a minute and order a dozen before you read on: http://www.alobgolf.com/
As a guy who only gets out on the course a couple times a month, I will say this ball felt amazing off the tee. The Alob Speedway ball was intended to improve ball flight efficiency, and performance. What does that mean? Distance… we all want it – we all need it. According to their website, their formula has translated to give golfers an increased distance of 10% to 20% compared to existing brands. It had a lot of pop and great control. The ball also played very well with fairway woods and long irons.
Now to the worst part of my game. I am without a doubt a drive for show kind of guy. The Alob Speedway ball felt great on my approach shots and putting. Normally I do not have a lot of control on my chips but I felt like these balls provided me with that little extra touch I needed. I have noticed with a number of balls in the price point that the ball feels dead when you putt it. I can tell you that the Alob ball did not feel dead… on a number of holes I putted the Alob ball along with a Titlist Pro-v1x and could not tell a major difference other than about 30 bucks.
Without a doubt I suggest you give these balls a try. The price is great and the balls played right along with any of the top of lines balls out there. We are very excited to see what else Alob comes out with. While we got the first couple sleeves free, I am hooked and as I am writing this ordering a couple dozen…unless they want to send us some more for free.
Mr. Lafferty Daniels is a weekend warrior when it comes to golf. Mr. Daniels shoots in the mid to low 90’s most of the time. Has been know to have a couple snowmen on the score card but with the right amount of luck and sometimes with a little help from the trusty foot wedge can find his way into a birdie.
Alob sent us the Speedway balls free of charge. All of the reviews we share on Golf Starz are our own opinions and are products we would undoubtedly recommend, use or purchase on our own.
